I’m trying to figure out how this story might work. Obviously the best way to do that is to draw the kids fighting a chicken dragon.
that one kid isn’t dead he’s just a little squished but he’ll be fiiiine. Grandma will patch him up once they get him home.
It’s supposed to look sort of whimsical like a kid’s book. I think I pulled that off all right. I mean, there’s room for improvement obv but for a first page? I’m pretty pleased with this. I was sort of trying to go for a cross between Minus and Calvin and Hobbes for the look?? And maybe also some of Noelle Stevenson's style. But also definitely with my own things thrown in because ahahaha there is no way I can mimic Bill Waterson or Ryan Armand or Noelle Stevenson.

For whatever it’s worth I’m voting for children’s book (because it’d be great to see more of this).

After last year, anyone who works with watercolor has my undying respect, because “oh my god, drips everywhere!” But, maybe that’s just the price of using an easel?
